SMHC and Maine Behavioral Healthcare: This project triples the number of short-stay behavioral health beds in York County, and includes relocating the existing 12-bed adult behavioral health care unit in Biddeford to Sanford and expanding the number of adult beds up to 40 across 2 floors. The project will generate over 70 new jobs at Sanford Medical Center, and provide critically needed bed capacity for York County adult patients who are experiencing short-term crises with common diagnoses such as psychosis, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and co-occurring substance use disorders. It will provide stabilization for adults whose inpatient treatment needs can be met within a few days, after which individualized treatment plans will support transitions to appropriate levels of care in their community. SMHC Sports Performance Center: SMHC’s Sports Performance Center, located within the Sanford-Springvale YMCA, is one of a kind in southern Maine. Athletes receive supervised and customized programs designed to prevent injuries, optimize physical performance and maximize recovery from injury, all under the guidance of the full spectrum of SMHC’s medical and athletic specialists. SMHC’s Sports Performance Center integrates medical, physical therapy and training specialties, and will help its clients become better all-around athletes in a challenging, safe environment under the guidance of professionals.

Nasson Health Care
Nasson Health Care is a community-based health center in Springvale. The approach is team-based, with a primary care provider at the center of patient care. All staff are dedicated and are highly qualified in medical, dental, and behavioral health. Fee discounts are available for patients with financial need. Patients also have access to several transportation services that operate in York County communities. These services are available for non-emergency medical appointments.
Summer Commons ElderCare
A new senior care facility, with 64-bed skilled nursing care center and 30-bed assisted living specializing in memory care, is currently under construction with a March 2021 opening planned. The initiative is a collaborative effort between MaineHealth and SMHC who used to own and operate similar facilities on the Goodall Campus, and a private sector joint venture between Sandy River Company and North Country Associates as new owner/operator.
York Hospital Walk-In Care
York Hospital in Sanford offers daily Walk-In Care, X-ray, and lab services. Centrally located at 1474 Main Street in Sanford, the facility is a service of York Hospital, providing quality care in a comfortable and caring environment.
