SanfordNet Fiber is your high-speed business network. It is a community owned asset built to provide current business owners a reliable, fast internet.

It is also a resource to recruit new businesses to Sanford-Springvale. The City believes that providing access to a high-speed information highway, much like maintaining traditional roads, is in the best interest of our community. The current pandemic heightened awareness of the importance of SanfordNet Fiber to business, education, and healthcare. The network makes a significant upgrade in speed and bandwidth and already enhances local economic development. 

The benefits of SanfordNet Fiber include:

Fiber: Businesses benefit because fiber does not slow down with more users. Employees experience less frustration and become more productive. Fiber optic cable is designed specifically for high-volume, high-speed data transmission. Comprised of ultra-thin optical glass threads, fiber transmits data via light pulses at speeds roughly 1,000 times faster than copper offering nearly unlimited bandwidth, data speeds stay fast —no matter how many users are sharing the line.

Community owned: SanfordNet Fiber is an asset owned by the City of Sanford. When you connect to SanfordNet Fiber, you reinvest in your city and collaborate with other business owners to support infrastructure needed to support growth.

The system is designed as an Open Access Non-Discriminatory Fiber Optic Network.  The City of Sanford partners with Internet service providers who are committed to the success of Maine businesses. GWI is the first internet service provider (ISP) to offer this service from the network to your business.  Other ISP’s are encouraged to participate. This allows for private companies to offer a multitude of services and solutions at competitive pricing to customers.

Currently, there are over 60 businesses who are connected to SanfordNet Fiber. We are looking to grow the number of subscribers because we believe it can provide unparalleled internet service for your business.
