Keith McBride joined the Growth Council as Executive Director in 2022. His prior achievements include working in the economic development departments for the cities of Westbrook and Auburn, as well as consulting. Most recently, he spent 9 years as the Executive Director of the Freeport Economic Development Corporation. Keith earned a B.A. in political science from the University of Tampa, a Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law, and a Masters in community planning and economic development from the Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine. Keith lives with his wife and two daughters.
Mary Hastings is the Small Business Advocate at the Growth Council, filling a new position created in 2021. She served the previous two years as Assistant to the Executive Director. In her new role, Mary supports economic development by providing in-depth, confidential, no-cost business assistance to Sanford’s small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. She works closely with companies and city officials to ensure timely review and processing of all projects. Mary grew up in Central Maine and has lived in the Sanford area for eighteen years. She previously owned and operated a family resort destination facility for thirteen years providing her with significant hands-on experience across a number of disciplines including customer service, project management, and business permitting. Mary has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Florida and lives in Lyman with her family.
